Conventional diagnostic radiology uses an X-ray, the oldest form of medical imaging. X-rays can produce diagnostic images of the human body on film or digitally that enables physicians to view and assess broken bones. X-rays are commonly used to assist physicians in the diagnosis of many conditions, including bone fractures, pneumonia and scoliosis. Our radiologists can take the X-ray a step further with the use of digital fluoroscopy. Fluoroscopy is used in many types of examinations and procedures and obtains moving, real-time images of the inside of the body. It is also the basis for certain diagnostic tests that use contrast, such as an Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP) or a Voiding Cystourethrogram.

- Arthrography (Joint X-ray) - This is a type of X-ray used to examine a joint, such as the knee or hip, when standard X-rays are not adequate. A series of X-rays is taken with the joint in various positions after contrast dye is placed in the joint.
- Barium Enema - This X-ray takes images of the large intestine, which includes the colon and rectum.
- Barium Swallow - The barium swallow is a medical imaging procedure used to examine the upper GI (gastrointestinal) tract, which includes the esophagus and, to a lesser extent, the stomach.
- DEXA - A DEXA (Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan evaluates bone mineral density and the loss of calcium from the bone. Our clinic is equipped with the DEXA Scan Bone Densitometer to ensure accurate test results. This test determines your bone mineral density and aids in the treatment and diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis. Bone density scans are non-invasive, painless, and often take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
- Hysterosalpingography / Uterosalpingography - This is a radiologic procedure used to investigate the shape of the uterine cavity and the shape and patency of the fallopian tubes. It entails the injection of a radio-opaque material into the cervical canal and usually fluoroscopy with image intensification.
- Pediatric Voiding Cystourethrogram - This is an X-ray that allows the radiologist to visualize a child's bladder and their ability to empty his/her bladder. A catheter (a small, soft, flexible tube) is placed into the child's bladder through the urethra (the tube that drains urine from the bladder). Then, a special iodinated contrast liquid that shows up well on X-rays will be introduced through the catheter in order to fill the bladder.
- Radiography (X-ray) - Bone - This is a diagnostic test in which ionizing radiation passing through the bones being examined enables an image to be produced on film.
- Radiography (X-ray) - Chest - This chest X-ray is a non-invasive test that creates pictures of the structures inside your chest, such as your heart, lungs, and blood vessels.
- Radiography, Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP) - This is a radiological procedure used to visualize abnormalities of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters and bladder.
